TERMITE AND VINES BLIGHTED BUILDING STATUS IS ABATED !!!
I have spent the last 3 weeks working to my breaking point to get the house together. I've been force feeding myself pay attention pills to keep going working 30 hour crazy renovating and cleaning shifts. i breathed in so much mold and dust that i've been coughing up black mucus. 2 days ago was the last day before our court hearing and i sprained my tricept nailing up some wood siding.. i kept working for another 4 hours after pulling my muscle and now i cant lift anything heavier than a jar of mayonaise with my right arm. i'm so tired that i passed out yesterday and slept on my friends garage floor instead of going to the squatters victory party. and it turns out it was all so terribly excessive as 3 weeks ago i met our neighybourhoods inspector kirkland. he told me he didnt have our file but if he ever did see it he'd sign termite off as compliant.
well it turns out he gave us a compliance the very next day. so i have worked myself to sickness and exhaustion for fun.
of cpourse we arent done yet. this victory at the code inspector just means we arent a second time blight problem. that we arent re blighted doesnt exactly negate our 002 blight judgemnet. our next hurdle is that we have to actually pass a full proper building inspection in february 008 or at least come close to doing so. after that TERMITE is pretty much ours mostly. but we still wont have actual title untill we settle taxes which might be more difficult to do than we though(see letter below).
whisky x worked over 1000 hours on termite this month and completely ruined his only change of clothes. he came with me to the government. i started freaking out right before our hearing that we looked like total dirt bags cuz even our nice clothes suck. that and all our pictures of termite show that in spite of the huge amount of work we've done, our house is still a giant teetering filthy hazardous wreck.
fortunatly our awsome blundering good luck has saved us from our own innocently daft ineptitude again !!! hurray !!

this here will be the next aquisition of TERMITE AND VINE PROPERTY Mgt THE CERAMICS STUDIO aka the porcelin doll store. this is were the Carlo Vintur raised his family and Nick vintur eventually ran a ornamental molding company out of the former grocery store. he also made porceline dolls on the side.
the property comes with 2 other houses on the same lot and a variety of kilns. taxes on this lot are absurdly humongous.

It took me a little longer than expected but heres some pics of the work we've been doing at duels st. theres plenty more pics in our house scrap book to. The place has lots of problems to overcome especially as termites have been dillegently devouring the walls for years. theres peices of structural walls missing that are big enough to drive a car through !
On the lighter side of things, we just passed our code inspection relevant to hurricane katrina clean up as of today !! Now all we have to do is pass a certificate of occupancy in february and we can then buy the house for the assessment.
Also, i managed to talk to Norris Butler, the head code enforcement officer of the city. It seems that the ceramics studio at 2677 new orleans st. was blighted (again) on may 30th when no one showed up to the hearing. Mr. Butler was vaugue about the citys plans for such very blighted buildings but it may get listed for demolition or given to developers. I think it has a fair chance of staying in limbo at least untill the fall and then i'd like to file a claim on it. It would be a difficult title to close though cuz the city may be ending the tax amnesty program this year.
tax amnesty is the program were a new owner may in the case of inheriting a huge tax debt, apply to settel the debt for the vlaue of 10 years worth of taxes rather than the total amount. In my case I could buy TERMITE st for only $10000 were the 28 years of taxes amount to $288640.57. However, even with tax amnesty, the studio and ajoining properties would cost a minimum of $73000 which is way out of my reach for purchasing 3 condemned buildings. NORA will be deciding this fall wether tax amnesty will continue or be cancelled. no one at city hall will speculate on what tax amnesty's fate is but the general opinion seems dark. something will definatly replace tax amnesty if it is cancelled, but no one knows what would replace it except that it would probably be a program favouring developers.
I'm still interested in the ceramics studio though and i intend to file a claim and start rehabilitating the properties in the fall regardless. there are loop holes in the system that could allow me to aquire it for less, especially once i'd had claim to it and been renovating it for years. the most promising would be to umbrella the transaction with th assistance of a 501 C charitable organisation, or the program for developers to aquire properties to creat low income housing.
Thats all in the future though, and years in to the future at that. I still have to renovate and quiet title of TERMITE st which is enough work for the next 3 years.
I will also be mailing a copy of this letter to you along with the proper notices of my possession and copies of my deed of possession.I hope its not to forward to ask if you could find the time to pen a short letter of reply to me stating that I have your consent to be present at and work on the properties. I often interact with city officials and occasionally law enforcement who have trouble understanding what exactly it is we are doing. As Lt Williams of the 5th district police force told me, "the polices job is to enforce criminal law. We are not obliged to have to interpret obscure, seldom used, civil court property laws."
such a letter could be a great asset to me. especially as, with your permission, i would like to change the locks on the ceramics studio and take some pictures of the buildings before this weekend. I can email them to you as soon as i get them.

for the first time in my life i have the chance of haveing my very own proper workshop !!!
in 2 years of living in morteville and working demolition and constrcution and disaster releif and scavanging i've ammassed about 600 pounds of tools !! i moved here with a 50 lb tool bag that was the stripped version of my old tool box for apocalypse travel weight.
huge termite nest i just found in a corner wall. i've started collecting theese things and might build some kind of display case.
jasha searched the entire property and discovered that we had enough broken bicycles to fill an entire room.
the "spare parts room" which i am totally gona clean really really soon ...
looking outside is boring and stupid.
i have a broken moped, a broken honda 70cc motor bike, and 8000 high school text books.
the bikes are gonna be really cool one day. the text books im gonna burn when i re build the fire pit.
i just finished cleaning all the crap out of this room. i'm gonna use this room to store big piles of garbage in.
this fall, all travelling lollyfucks will be stuck in thees basement dank dungeon room and tenured termites can live upstairs. you call me housey ?? whatever scumbag troll !!! get back in your pit !!! just wait untill 2011 when i turn termite in to a co-op with a 100 page list of house rules and regular consensous meetings and then i start collecting rent.
